Divorce Help: What is Trial Separation?

Before jumping off the cliff of divorce and going bankrupt spending tens of thousands of dollars, give it another careful thought and try to get as much divorce help you can get. After all, you vowed “till death do we part” and you are certainly still alive right now. A marriage is always worth saving especially if there are children involved.

One good way of knowing whether you really need a divorce and whether you could handle one is by trial separation. A trial separation is like a practice of living a life after the divorce. You and your spouse would not be staying under one roof and you will not have responsibilities to each other. All you got to think about is how you would like to get on with your life, support yourself, and be there as a parent to the kids.

Talk things over with your spouse and discuss on how you would like to go on with the pseudo-divorce. How will you go on with the budget? Who stays in the house? Who moves out? Who stays with the kids-- on what days and what times? Discuss on how long you think is the reasonable time for you to come up with a decision whether divorce is really the best for everyone.

Remember that your kids should be properly informed about your plans and why you are doing it. Never fail to assure them that the reason you are willing to go through a trial separation is because you do not want to be impulsive in making harsh decisions, and that you are willing to give yourselves a chance to patch things up for everyone’s well-being.
